Unless you feel like getting back to nature you are going to need a roof over you head. This can of course be found once you arrive at your destination and with a quality guidebook it can in some cases be very simple. Most of the time however it usually means putting in the foot work and personally visiting, calling or emailing the hostel or hotel or guesthouse and booking a room. If you’re in Mongolia and aren’t that comfortable speaking Mongolian than this might prove tricky!

So, for a lot of people it makes sense to pre-book rooms with hostels, hotels or guesthouses in the town or city you will be visiting. This does however mean there needs to a pretty strict itinerary in order so not to lose out on your booking. Good for backpackers who know where they want to go and when they’ll be there....not so good for free roamers!
